Growing entrepreneurial businesses in complex situations
If we are to truly connect the unconnected there are many layers and implications we have to consider.
Nicci is passionate about connecting people and sharing stories that give people insight into the South African entrepreneurial context and way of life.
Nicci works as a consultant, based in South Africa. She works with small businesses to develop growth strategies. She also consults to institutions across Africa for the development of entrepreneurial eco-systems. Her primary objective is to create corridors between South Africa, Africa and Europe for the benefit of all entrepreneurs.
It is not as simple as merely giving individuals access to good quality, reasonably priced wifi and mobile data. What is “connected”? Does it imply empowerment or access to decent work and income? Or so much more? Before we even begin to consider solutions we have to think about the needs of the individual and reflect on our own understanding of “connected”. This speech gives the audience an insight into South African township-based entrepreneurial businesses and the challenges they face, the opportunities available to them and the solutions to help them grow. The solutions are complex but by applying a different way of thinking and partnerships between different countries we can make a contribution towards solving these issues globally.
The speech took place on 23rd of September on Inspire Stage during Infoshare 2020 Online.
